In 2001, the “V” blend revolved around 58% Petit Verdot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Cabernet Franc. The Petit Verdot adds color, tannin and piquant spice to the blend while Cabernet Sauvignon maintains the balance, providing a strong backbone upon which to display the exoticism of Viader Petit Verdot. The Cabernet Franc adds density to the finish and inspires intense flavors in the wine. In combination, these three varietals produce a dense, sumptuous wine with intense complexity.
