“V” IN BRIEF:
This presents the inaugural release of this innovative Bordeaux blend. “V” is an exclusive Viader blend of the classic red varietals Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Each year, differing amounts of these varietals will be carefully selected to create a blend that best expresses the character and nature of the VIADER Estate. “V” is intended to highlight the sophistication of Petit Verdot as a varietal, apart from its tremendous blending capabilities.
WHY “V”?
In 1998, the “V” blend was comprised of 50% Petit Verdot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Petit Verdot is the ideal grape variety for adding color, tannin and piquant spice to the blend while Cabernet Sauvignon maintains the balance, providing a strong backbone upon which to display the exoticism of our estate Petit Verdot. The Cabernet Franc adds density to the finish and inspires intense flavors in the wine. In combination, these three varietals produce a dense, sumptuous wine with intense complexity.
