The wine shows red raspberry, ripe wild strawberry, and red fruit aromas along with characteristic pencil shavings. Thanks to an outstanding vintage, the 2007 is medium to full-bodied with a sweet entry and mid-palate and tight-grained tannins coated by a velvety texture. The once firm structure has softened over time, and the vibrant acidity enables a lingering finish that is bolder than the preceding vintage.

2007 VIADER “V”
Full of ripe flavors and bold tannins from an outstanding 2007 vintage, this “V” showcases the highest percentage of Petit Verdot than any previous blend. Deep color, with aromas of violets, huckleberry, cassis, blackberry, and vanilla. Lifting acidity with loads of rose petals on the palate, with a touch of spice and dark bittersweet chocolate. The high level of Petit Verdot contributes to an intensely floral, bright and full mouthfeel. We recommend decanting for at least 2 hours.

2007 VIADER “Liquid Cashmere”
The 2007 VIADER shows the typicity of the VIADER estate, with its firm structure influenced by the steep rocky slopes of lower Howell Mountain, and the familiar elegance and harmony created through the combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Upon opening, the aromatics bring forth delicate white floral notes, with bright red and blue fruits, and subtle hints of lightly scorched wood. Lively acidity supports a very broad flavor profile with a touch of brown sugar, milk chocolate, and vanilla bean tones which complement the smooth and silky texture. Sweet ripe tannins create a full-bodied and balanced mouthfeel. Within two hours, the wine shows more dark red fruits, with a touch of spice and licorice. Always best to decant when enjoyed young.

2007 VIADER Proprietary Red – “Epitomizes the Modern Napa Style of Soft Richness”
This lush wine epitomizes the modern Napa style of soft richness and extreme drinkability when young. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it’s beautiful now for its blackberry, black currant, dark chocolate and cedar flavors. For all its approachability, it should age well for the next six to eight years.
2007 VIADER Proprietary Red Earns 94 Points from Tanzer – “Suave, Juicy and Energetic”
(a 71/29 blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc) Good deep red-ruby. Lovely violet lift to the dark cherry and licorice flavors. Suave, juicy and energetic, with terrific inner-mouth aromatic appeal to the sweet berry and floral flavors. Finishes with lovely length, firm but fully ripe tannins and lingering minerality. Delia Viader told me she’s really proud of this wine, and that she only said that previously about the 1997 and 1991.
