This blend opens with sweet, bright fruit – red cherry, sugar plum, and fresh ripe blackberry – and hints of dried flowers recalling roses. Very nice mouthfeel on the palate, elegant in structure, with a silky smooth texture from start to finish. Loads of black pepper and smoke with some dark toasty barrel notes, sweet oak flavors and caramel. Bright lift on the finish, with great acidity that brings the rich red fruit back on the finish… Completely mouthwatering!
Small in production yet mighty in flavor, 2011 “V” Petit Verdot Blend has seductive aromatics of dried roses, dark burnt caramel, cocoa, and cherry plums. Elegant and smooth flavors on the palate; the wine’s bright acidity accentuates the flavors of ripe red fruits, dried cranberry, dried cherry, young blackberry, and cedar. Finishes with a great lift of red fruits and toasty oak that coat the mouth. Decant and drink through the next two decades.
A medley of sweet ripe red fruits on the nose recalling wild strawberry, marionberry, cassis, black cherry, and even rhubarb pie among aromas of vanilla, new leather, floral notes, fresh sage, and toasted marshmallow. The ripe fruit is complemented by a vibrant acidity bringing the mouthfeel into an impressive balance. The fine-grained firm tannins are elegant and attractive; their impression remaining on the palate throughout the long finish.
