Sweet ripe red and black fruits dominate both the palate and the nose. Bing cherry, raspberry, plum. Chocolate. Softer herbal notes of lavender, tarragon, fennel, and anise. Violets, creme brulee, and pencil shavings (classic characteristic of this varietal). Silky smooth, viscous, medium-bodied, fruit-forward, with a very soft finish. Extremely approachable. Drink now or over the next 5 years.
Juicy blackberry. This dark juicy blend explodes with concentrated black fruits – currant, spicy blackberry, huckleberry, and boysenberry. Another layer reveals dusty cocoa, dark chocolate, subtle hints of anise, dark toasty barrel notes, sweet oak flavors and caramel. From the amazingly fruit-rich 2012 vintage, this voluptuous inky wine certainly makes a statement.
Complex layers of red and black fruits and aromas of candied lavender. Rich bouquet of black cherry, wild strawberries, black tea, chamomile, pencil shavings, cigar box, molasses, cocoa. Gripping tannins with mouthwatering acidity. Long finish with lingering baking spices on the palate.
Explosive aromatics of ripe red fruits, cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry and rose petals with burnt caramel notes. The ripeness of fruit contributes to a superb mouthfeel that is bold and balanced with incredibly smooth supple tannins. Intense spices grace the finish. This vintage especially lives up to its popular nickname for the VIADER blend, “Liquid Cashmere.”
The deep ruby/plum/purple-tinged 2012 Proprietary Red Blend Viader is composed of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Cabernet Franc. It exhibits lots of spice box, cedarwood, fruitcake, black currant, plum and Asian soy characteristics in its medium to full-bodied, supple textured, soft, round, seductive personality. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years.
(66% cabernet sauvignon and 36% cabernet franc): Bright, medium ruby-red. Brooding aromas of cassis, black cherry, minerals, smoke and licorice are lifted by a violet topnote. Densely packed, ripe and seamless, with lovely depth and complexity to its claret-like flavors of currant, minerals and tobacco leaf. Really spreads out to saturate the palate on the long back end, which features building tannins and persistent sweetness of fruit. This very harmonious wine promises to be fat and rich for Viader’s flagship blend.
